Founders + vision
I’m Luke (this is me and my ma). And that’s my mate Adam (the one without the ball).
When we witnessed the tragedy of our front line workers continuing their essential work to hold our society together without Personal Protective Equipment, we had to do something. We knew that without protection, these heroes working in our care homes (with the most high risk people), bus drivers, supermarket and delivery workers, etc were often having to decide between continuing work possibly catching or spreading Coronavirus, or staying home despite desperate under-staffing, until there’s adequate protection for them.
Anyone can help make PPE. Many groups of brilliant, proactive people are making it right now and saving lives. There are many networks too; making connections between people who want to help, but to our knowledge, there’s still no centralised, self-managed, map-based tool for people to quickly see who is making PPE near them and how they can help, or to request that help. On our map, you add yourself and click on the people you want to connect with; instantly you see their phone number or preferred method of contact. That’s our approach; we don’t want our team to be the bottleneck to this becoming national this week and international within days. That’s why it’s self-managed, rather than our team having to collect and personally process connections ourselves manually.

How you can help
Making the whole world know about + use PPE maker network (details)
Find similar maker networks like us, contact them and help ensure we work together, not in silos
Working through form responses (by those who couldn’t use the map) and add them to the map
Being a general team member; bouncing ideas with me and Adam and doing what’s needed
Those are some examples of jobs we need help with, if you're interested in joining our team! You’ll ideally have at least an hour or two available, most days of the week. We especially need (hu)manpower most over the next 14 days. This is the time that counts most, where we can really intervene and make a difference, enabling thousands of people into action that saves lives. - Contact us using the form below if you'd like to join our team, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
